Democratizing access to New York housing laws and empowering tenants to understand their rights regarding security deposits.
New York housing laws can be complex and intimidating. Many tenants are completely unaware that their security deposits may be legally required to accrue interest, or that the failure of a landlord to notify them of the bank holding their deposit constitutes a serious violation.
We built this tool to bridge the gap between complex legal statutes and everyday renters. By turning dense legal text like General Obligations Law § 7-103 into an easy-to-use calculator, we hope to level the playing field and give renters the confidence to demand what is legally theirs.
